DGE-Quality Standards updated in English
The DGE-Quality Standards for Meals in Daycare Centers, Schools, Companies, Public Authorities, Universities and Clinics as well as for Catering with “Meals on wheels” and in Residential Homes have also been updated in English for the revised versions from 2023.The DGE-Quality Standards support those responsible for communal catering in designing a health-promoting and sustainable catering offer.
The new report by the Global Child Nutrition Foundation, which collected data from more than 160 countries, shows the potential and impact of school feeding programs on sustainability development. First and foremost, these programs address malnutrition in order to improve children's health. In many regions of the world, school meals also make it easier for children to attend school in the first place. However, the data also showed impressively how the programs help to reshape food markets and bring about a shift in thinking towards climate-resilient and health-promoting meals.
The English versions of the DGE-Quality Standards can provide professionals around the world with suggestions for designing sustainable catering and serve as a model. Scientifically sound and at the same time practical, the criteria listed therein describe an optimal catering situation that each institution or food provider can approach step by step and at their own rhythm. This makes the DGE Quality Standards an instrument for developing food quality and are simultaneously the basis for DGE certification.
They are available under the following titles and can be downloaded free of charge as PDF files from the websites of each project and the DGE:
